Research shows that if you have back pain for 6 weeks or more, the muscles of the low back and core become weak and deconditioned. This can lead to more pain and leave you vulnerable to injury.
Until these muscles are strengthened, you end up in a cycle of pain leading to decreased activity, which leads to weakness of the muscles through lack of use, which then leads to more pain and so the cycle continues.
By strengthening your core with specific, functional exercise, you can help support your spine and reduce pain.
During this time when we’re all indoors, it’s more important than ever to look after your back.
For those working from home, the lack of a traditional set up workstation can have a negative impact on your back health, as you are likely having to work from a place which isn’t optimal for good posture.
Add in not being able to use the gym, or perhaps do as much exercise/sport as you’re used to, and probably spending more time sitting down, it’s no surprise that back pain will be on the rise over the coming weeks.
Short sessions of 30 mins will be tailored to your needs, goals and lifestyle, this is not a one-size-fits-all solution.
You don’t need any kit (though we can provide you with what we recommend if you wish), or loads of space, we will work with what you have to make sure you get the best out of your session and help keep you moving freely.
You work one-to-one with your therapist throughout the session and you’re also taught the tools you need to help yourself and be given advice on things to do on your own.
Using these techniques, you can prevent further attacks and have the confidence to know what to do if you suffer a re-occurrence of pain or stiffness in the future.
